Sorry, but it IS my blog.

I’m glad I have health insurance through my job. Because if I didn’t, I’d be screwed. Why don’t the republicans want people to have health insurance???! I don’t get it!! They haven’t come up with a better plan; no, they’re just trying to kill this one even after they’ve forced so many changes into it knowing full well that they’re still not going to vote for it. It’s so frustrating for me to watch, even though, like I said, I have health insurance for the time. I just know that so many people don’t and that this country needs a decent way to insure it’s people. Why, why don’t the republicans in the house and senate want people to have insurance?

Okay, no response is requested for this blog. I’m just venting.

I'm a young, childless widow who is trying to figure out the best way to deal with the world in light of my late husband's suicide. It's harder than I ever imagined it would be, but somehow at the same time I am still alive and even happy sometimes.

  1. i just want you to know that i’ve been reading your blogs, and i agree with you. i don’t have health insurance right now…at this point i go to the doctor at UT, and i hope by the time i’m done with school i WILL have insurance, but of course we don’t have money for that right now…even though Knox and i both have full-time jobs, they’re not of the high-paying sort.
it’s hard for me to not think of republicans as “the enemy”, since they’re the ones who think someone like me doesn’t deserve healthcare. and it’s really hard to not take it personally when it comes from the church. so.

    1. I was watching the Colbert Report the other day (not my #1 source for news) and he had a Jesuit priest on who had some really good things to say; most memorably for me, he basically said that in his experience, the poor people are the hardest workers. Which reminded me of Morgan Spurlock’s 30 Days show when he goes on minimum wage. You can’t support a family on minimum wage (which is what you’ll probably have since contraceptives aren’t readily available to everyone), so you have to work at least two jobs to make ends meet. (I KNOW some of these people! They work hard!)

Yeah, it’s frustrating. Thanks for the comment … and this morning anyway, it’s looking like the health bill really is going to pass finally….
